Privacy Policy
SafalTopper ("we", "our", or "us") operates the SafalTopper platform, currently available as a website at safaltopper.com, with a mobile application planned for future release (collectively, the "Service").
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
A note on where we are today: SafalTopper is currently in an early validation phase. We are actively using detailed usage data to understand whether and how the product helps users, as described in Section 1.2 below. This policy will be updated as we add features such as a mobile application or paid subscriptions.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide to Us
Google Account Information: When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Profile Data: Your chosen display name, avatar, and any preferences you set within the Service.
Communication: If you contact us via email or support channels, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.
1.2 Interaction and Learning Data
Because SafalTopper is currently in a product validation phase, understanding exactly how users engage with the Service is essential to improving it. To this end, we collect detailed interaction data linked to your user ID, including:
- Which tabs, buttons, and menu items you click, including within the dashboard, progress view, and sidebar navigation
- Timestamps of these interactions
- Your answers to practice questions and mock questions (MCQs), including which option you selected, whether it was correct, and how long you took
- Accuracy, streak, and XP data
- API requests made from your account while using the Service
This data lets us see, for example, which parts of the product users actually spend time in, where they drop off, and which features are used or ignored. It is used solely to evaluate and improve the Service and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
1.3 Information We Collect Automatically
Usage Analytics: General information about how you use SafalTopper, including pages visited, session duration, practice sets completed, in addition to the detailed interaction data described in Section 1.2.
Device Information: We may collect information about the device you use to access the Service, including browser type and version and device identifiers, and — once a mobile application is available — hardware model and operating system version.
Log Data: Our servers automatically record information ("log data") when you access the Service, including your IP address, browser type, the date and time of your request, and the pages you visit.
Crash Reports: If the application encounters an error, we may collect diagnostic information to help us identify and fix the issue.
1.4 Information from Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to:
- Keep you signed in across sessions
- Remember your preferences and settings
- Track your progress and streak data locally
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Service may not function properly.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Service: including practice sets, progress tracking, and streak features.
- To validate and improve the Service: analysing detailed usage and interaction patterns (see Section 1.2) to identify which features are working, what content to add, and where users struggle or lose interest. This is currently one of our primary uses of data, given the Service's early stage.
- To personalise your experience: showing relevant practice topics based on your performance and weak areas.
- To communicate with you: sending account-related notifications, responding to support inquiries, and (with your consent) sending updates about new features.
- To ensure security: monitoring for suspicious activity, preventing abuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To comply with legal obligations: when required by applicable law or regulation.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may engage third-party companies to facilitate our Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting). These providers have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: If SafalTopper is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this happens.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information, including interaction and learning data described in Section 1.2, for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide and improve the Service. We may retain certain information longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., security, fraud prevention).
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and adherence to industry-standard security practices.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including interaction data.
- Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Objection: Object to our processing of your personal data for certain purposes.
- Data Portability: Request that we provide your data in a structured, commonly used format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at aayam.pokharel@gmail.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing aayam.pokharel@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account. An in-app account deletion feature may be added in the future.
We will process your request within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed at individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove that information.
8. Third-Party Services
Google Sign-In
We use Google Sign-In to authenticate users. When you choose to sign in with your Google account, we receive your basic profile information from Google, including your name, email address, and profile picture, solely to create and manage your SafalTopper account and provide our services.
SafalTopper's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Analytics Providers
We may use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Sentry) to help us understand how the Service is used. These providers may collect information sent by your browser or device as part of their services.
Payments
We do not currently use any payment processor, as the Service is free during this validation phase. If premium features are introduced, this section will be updated to name the payment processor(s) used and describe what payment-related data they collect on our behalf. We do not store payment card information ourselves.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as the Service evolves (for example, upon launch of a mobile application or introduction of paid features). We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when they are posted on this page.
