The exam gives you 100 MCQs in 120 minutes with no negative marking. That means your enemy is not difficulty — it is time spent per question. The 3-pass method front-loads easy marks and leaves the heavy lifting for when you know how much time is left.

Why this order? English and Computer questions are short to read and solve in seconds, Chemistry formula questions are mechanical, Physics needs a little more thought, and Maths calculations eat minutes. By doing the fast subjects first you lock in marks early — and never run out of time on easy questions because a hard Maths problem swallowed 15 minutes.
The 45-Second Rule
Speed is a discipline, not a talent. Train yourself with the 45-second rule:
- If a question is not solved in ~45 seconds, mark it on the question paper, bubble a best guess, and move on. Come back to it in Pass 3 if time remains.
- Never sink 60+ seconds into a question in the first pass. One stuck question silently steals three easy ones.
- Do rough work on the question paper, not the OMR. The OMR sheet must stay clean — every stray mark risks a scanning error.
- Circle/mark questions you skip. A clear "skip" sign on the question paper makes Pass 3 retrieval instant.
With no negative marking, a guessed option on a skipped question is strictly better than an empty bubble — it still costs you nothing if wrong.
High-Speed Exam Hacks
These shortcuts solve many CSIT questions faster than the full working — and are especially useful when you are short on time.
1. Dimensional analysis to eliminate options
Physics MCQs often give four options with different units. Match the units (dimensions) each option would produce before doing any real calculation. An option whose units do not match the physical quantity is automatically wrong — often leaving only one or two real contenders.
2. Extreme-value testing
For formulas, plug in convenient extreme values to test which option is right: try θ = 0° or 45° in trigonometry-heavy formulas, or n = 1, 2 in sequence/series and statistics questions. The option that survives the easy cases is almost always the correct formula.
3. Work backward from the options
Maths MCQs in the entrance are designed so one option is the answer. Where working forward is slow, test the options instead — substitute them back into the equation and check which one fits. This turns a long solve into a quick check.
4. Calculator routines
If your calculator is allowed, set it to the correct angle mode (degree/radian) before the exam starts — a wrong mode silently destroys every trigonometry answer. Use it for decimals and square roots, but keep rough-work habits sharp because some questions are faster by hand.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Leaving questions blank. TU CSIT has no negative marking — a blank is the only answer that is guaranteed zero. Guess.
- Missing the NOT / INCORRECT / EXCEPT / LEAST trap. These words invert the question. Underline them the moment you read the question; the "obvious" option is often the one to avoid.
- Mixing CGS and SI units. Force, energy, charge and other quantities appear in both systems. Check the units in the options before calculating.
- Bubbling one-by-one. Bubbling every answer as you go wastes time and invites misalignment. Answer in small batches — solve 5, bubble 5.
- Skipping the final OMR scan. Use the last 5 minutes to sweep the OMR in straight rows and columns, confirming every bubble is filled and aligned with the question number.

Physics
- Projectile: maximum range Rmax = u²/g, reached at a projection angle of 45°.

Chemistry
- Ideal gas: PV = nRT.

- Number systems: group binary digits in threes for octal and fours for hexadecimal to convert instantly.
