Botany vs Zoology: Where the Recall Lives
Both halves of the 80 biology marks respond to the same schedule, but the failure modes differ — and your review notes should reflect that:
- Botany (40 marks). Morphology terms, reproductive structures, plant physiology processes and life cycles are detail-dense. Students lose these marks to interchangeable-looking one-liners — so your day-3 and day-7 passes should force exact-phrase recall, not summaries.
- Zoology (40 marks). Human and animal physiology, systems and taxonomic facts are more concept-linked. Here the value is linking facts into sequences (blood flow, nerve impulse, digestion) so a single question triggers the whole chain.
Write your wrong answers down as short “I confused X with Y” lines. Those are your real revision notes — more useful than any highlighter — and the day-30 pass is mostly these lines plus the chapters where you bled the most marks.
Mistakes That Break the System
- Cramming instead of spacing. One marathon session followed by nothing until the mock test undoes the whole technique. The interval is the point.
- Re-reading instead of retrieving. Covering the page feels like study. Answering from memory is study. Keep a notebook closed until you have committed to an answer.
- Falling behind the schedule. One skipped review breaks the chain for that chapter. Make the review column short enough that it is never skipped — five minutes of recall questions beats an hour of regret.
- Starting too late. If you begin 2 weeks before the exam, the 30-day pass is impossible. With the 2027-cycle exam expected around early October 2026 (confirm on the portal — the “2027” is the academic year of admission, so the exam itself falls in 2026), a late-August start fits all four passes.
